Microsoft Office 2024, the successor to Office 2021 and the latest version of Microsoft Office software, includes all the familiar office tools that enable users to easily capture, analyze, and organize ideas.
What has changed?
Based on user feedback, Office 2024 introduces a new default theme that provides a natural and consistent experience within and across the apps. Office 2024 also includes various new features and improvements over Office 2021:
- Excel: New advanced features for more efficient data analysis.
- Word: Improved session recovery and accessibility options.
- Access: New capabilities for databases.
About Microsoft Office
Microsoft Office offers a variety of Office solutions, each with its own unique features. When selecting the right package, it is important to determine which Office apps the user needs and whether they will be using a Windows or Mac computer.
Office 2024 software is a one-time purchase. This means it does not include access to the services of a Microsoft 365 subscription and offers no upgrade option. When a new version becomes available, users will need to purchase it again.

The difference between Office 2024 and Microsoft 365
The biggest difference between the Office solutions is the licensing model. Microsoft 365 is purchased as a subscription, whereas Office is a one-time purchase. With Microsoft 365, users always have the latest version, including features, apps, and security updates. Since Office is a one-time purchase, it does not include an upgrade option. To upgrade to the latest version, a new purchase is required. Office can only be installed on one PC or Mac, whereas Microsoft 365 can be installed on multiple PCs/Macs, tablets, and phones (including Windows, iOS, and Android).
